I was thinking I'd probably just use the cardamom and leave out the anise (and you should have cardamom pods on hand as a good chai drinker, ahem), then cut the red pepper in half. I LOVE Mexican hot chocolate, but it's usually too spicy for me after about 2.4 sips.
